Clash of the Titans....

Well just a quick note on the re-boot of the epic classic Clash of the Titans...It is staring Sam Worthington of Terminator Salvation fame or (Misfortune in my eyes...) Regardless it stars Worthington as Perseus the main character. Many of you have seen the old version and remember the kooky little mechanical owl that followed him around and which was a little more like The Ten Commandments in its 'old style' cinematography. Its safe to say that it will be nothing like that, and hopefully will follow suit to the story as close as possible. I am truly excited about this because it will have all the stops pulled out. It's due out in 2010. Photo and description courtesy of the guys over at Jammsbro's...

Here is the description:
"In Clash of the Titans, the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny."

Burn this mother down!!!!!!

So it has been a little chaotic lately around my house. One of the three major forces of nature is taking its toll on the San Gabriel Valley. Fire has ravaged the forest in Northern Azusa, as well as the Angeles National Forest in Tujunga, and La Canada....The increase in heat (It has been 100 + degrees the past three days) has not helped much at all. Now it has ripped east across the mountain range and is parallel with East Pasadena. Emergency Evacuation has been put into place in the previously mentioned towns, and the cloud cover was so gnar when I woke up this morning that I had to close my window because my room smelt like I was at a campfire for a week and didn't wash any of my clothes....Supremely bad smell to wake up to. Much respect to the Men and Women in the Fire Departments around L.A. County and all the volunteers that have been sacrificing their time, and vehicles to help accommodate those who have had to be evacuated. Here are a few pics of the carnage that man started and Mother Nature took into her incubating hands. Still want to live in California? I don't blame you!

Ingloriously Glorious.

I went and saw The Inglorious Basterds last night. Tarantino did not disappoint. The script was amazing. Certainly a stretch for the usually gory director. Aldo the Apachee, The Bear Jew, The short one and the rest were amazing. Lets just say watching history rewritten has never been so Glorious.

Paco, My Hero!

So in the time I have had since my last post (Accidental Post I was tinkering around with some Widgets that I found) I have had some inspiration from my good buddy Piero. He hails from Italy where he recently graduated from the University at Bologna with his degree in Computer Science. I as most people do in life hit a wall whether it be musically, scientifically, or even just in life. Piero has helped inspire me to learn a different style of guitar playing. Flamenco! This is a major break-through for me because I have needed to take my playing to the next level, and I am hoping I can do so with the guise and direction he has lent me in his instructional booklet. I am very excited to get learning, and I thought as an extra treat I would post THE all-time great Flamenco guitarist Paco De-Lucia. So prepare yourself for some serious serious guitar playing...The video I chose is of Paco in his heyday in the mid 1970's.... If you don't know, then now you know!!!!!!

My birthday this year....

Well my birthday has come and gone leaving me with a feeling of disbelief that I am as old as I am....But to help me forget I had a crew of epic proportions to help me find my way. Jeremy, Georgette, Collin, Carlos, Dan, Jon, and Drewwwww all were there to see The Mars Volta live in Ventura at the smallest show they've played in years....Jeremy was kind enough to upload the tracks so I thought I would pass them along as well! I have to thank my friends because without all of yous guys I would just be alone and hungover!!!!! Thank you for making it happen!!! Below is a link to the recorded tracks The Mars Volta played that night. Thanks again Jer!

S.F. to L.A.

So I decided to traverse to San Francisco last week to visit my buddy Matt. This was in fact to explore San Francisco State and see the opportunities it offered in the realm of teaching, and despite my disappointment it proved to be a most satisfying time away from the homestead of Los Angeles. Avoiding the craziness of California weather patterns I made it to L.A. in time for a Sorcerer show at the RELAX bar in Hollywood on Friday the 13th. You are probably wondering where I got such a nice shiner. I will give some advice to those without any type of medical insurance like myself. Standing up for women you don't know while riding the bus home in the rain is most certainly not an idea one should pursue after a heavy night of drinking, especially if you tend to become insulted by extremely rude people. Long story long we stomped them initially; However, I didn't leave and got jumped by somebody I can't remember....

Sorcerer

So I went to a free show at Cinespace last night in Hollywood to check out a band that some longtime friends are in. Sorcerer is their name, and Face-melting is their game. If you have any chance to go see them in the Los Angeles area you most definitely should come out!

So I am pretty excited that the financial battle between Warner Brothers and Fox over the highly anticipated live action epic The Watchmen is finally over with. It took some serious shmoozing of the execs, but now we all get to enjoy Zack Snyder's crack at the comic series. It will be released on March 6, 2009. Everybody has to see this movie, seriously legit.
